Paramount Pictures unveiled a new trailer of the upcoming animated science-fiction film titled, ‘Transformers One’. Directed by Josh Cooley, this is the first CG-animated Transformers movie since the first installment, ‘The Transformers: The Movie’, which was released in 1986. Set on the backdrop of Cybertron planet, Orion Pax and D-16, two young Cybertronian workers develop an unbreakable bond which ultimately transforms into rivalry changing them to Optimus Prime and Megatron.
What Is ‘Transformers One’ About?
‘Transformers One’ will focus on the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron who are sworn enemies but once shared a strong bond of friendship. A prequel to the Transformers franchise, the film tells the tale of how two buddies forever changed the fate of Cybertron. Unable to transform, they are bound to work in the wasteland. After several attempts, they are given powers by their leader and are finally able to transform themselves. A battle breaks out between the transformers and a plant-shaped villain, daring them to utilise their newly acquired powers to destroy the enemy.
Following the 1986 cartoon Transformers film, filmmaker Michael Bay launched a live-action series in 2007 with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. The film went on to become a huge sensation, spawning five more Transformers sequels.
Who All Are in the Cast?
For the first time in the last 40 years, the animated version of Transformers will be getting a theatrical release. ‘Transformers One’ features a star-studded voice cast including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Hamm and Steve Buscemi.

However, it is not sure that which role has been assigned to Steve Buscemi in the movie.
How Did the Fans React?
Fans are waiting for the release of the film with bated breaths. One user wrote, “Transformers: One looks incredible! The animation is so beautiful & epic! So excited to see the origin of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee & Megatron! So excited to see how they become enemies before the fall of Cybertron! So excited to watch this movie in September with The Wild Robot!” While another wrote, “Finally a Transformers movie without a Human this is what we needed all along.” Some also expressed their excitement to see Bumblebee into action.
Will It Get an OTT Release?
‘Transformers One’ will be out in theatres on September 20, 2024. However, the makers have not revealed the OTT release date yet. Josh Cooley directed the film, which was written by Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, and Bobby Rubio. The soundtrack is by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL.
What Can We Expect?
Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry bring to life the characters of young Optimus Prime and Megatron sharing an odd-couple chemistry.
The action-packed film has a comic tone and some high-octane action sequences.
Transformers One follows the grand narratives of heroism, brotherhood, and sacrifice. In the previous films, Autobots and Decepticons were seen engaging in conflicts but this time it’s more about the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron and their journey from best friends to arch-nemesis. Given the performance of the last three movies in the Transformers franchise, the pressure has built up on the upcoming release. Let’s see whether it sets new box office records.
