Who is this Anteras?
Before becoming Anteras, he was called Ramón Castillo Gaete, a young working-class man. He was a young man who studied music and was an accomplished musician. He gets himself into a drug named Ayahuasca which also helps him with the pain he feels. Pablo, one of his ex-followers, met in a workshop and, slowly through Pablo, he recruited many new followers. Ramón likes to be called Anteras de la Luz as it is the brightest star from the Scorpio constellation. He manipulated his other followers to take Ayahuasca and meditate. Each of his followers in their interviews mentions his impressive presence, which made them more attracted towards him and that his followers are warriors who can save the world.

According to Pablo, Anteras organised workshops solely for the activation of chakras, and he would make his followers sit in a lotus position and give them guided meditation. His followers had to imagine walking down some stairs, reaching a door and opening it with a gold key that Anteras himself would give them. And the room inside is their inner self. Slowly, Anteras would ask them to hug a body that is their inner self. And awakening is the moment when they find out that Anteras is God’s incarnation and, according to Anteras, in this incarnation, he has come to burst the darkness.
How was the birth of Natalia’s child?
In one of the healing seminars organised by Anteras after taking Ayahuasca, he got an order from his inner self that Natalia is his soulmate, and she has to be with him. Natalia was forced to be with him with the pretense that if she didn’t comply with the order, his inner self was going to burn her alive on judgement day, which ended up with Natalia being pregnant. Natalia had to go through an unwanted pregnancy and a painful birth of her child. Anteras concluded that the child was Lucifer and they must sacrifice the child. Natalia was taken to Colliguay to give birth because, according to Anteras, it was a powerful place. She was dressed in a Calypso tunic that covered her entire body except her eyes, but they had to go to a clinic in Reñaca and Natalia birthed her child in that clinic.

The next day after giving birth, Natalia was made to shave her head and bathe in cold water. Then they left for Colliguay for the sacrifice of the so-called Lucifer, who is Anteras and Natalia’s child. Near the house where they lived, a hole was made and Anteras started a fire inside it. Around 11 PM, Pablo took the child’s clothes off, tied his feet and hand, put a sock in his mouth and covered his eyes with masking tape. Then they gave the baby to Anteras, who was about to sacrifice his son. According to Pablo, Anteras may have killed his son first before throwing him into the fire. Anteras remained unbothered by his heinous act and continued to prepare for doomsday, which is 21st December 2012.
How did the followers turn themselves to the police?
When the world did not end, as was told by Anetras to his followers, they started to lose faith in him and that created a major split in the group. Carolina and Pablo fled and headed towards the south and hid in Carolina’s stepmother’s house. They started to realise how they were manipulated by Anteras and always lived in fear of him, which added to their doubts, and they soon came to realise that the baby wasn’t Lucifer, and they had murdered an innocent child. Carolina and Pablo wrote emails to the other followers about how they were not going to go back to Anteras. Natalia, on the other hand, was approached by the police and told them the truth. Pablo was the second to turn himself in. Anteras fled to Peru knowing that the police were after him.

The followers were taken to court where the prosecutors put forward that they had been brutally “manipulated by a perverse mind, by a twisted mind” and that they were victims of manipulation. On the other hand, Anteras committed suicide and escaped facing the consequences of his actions.
In December 2013, police brought Pablo and Natalia to the site of the murder to trace everyone’s role in the crime. Pablo and Natalia told them how they had prepared for the sacrifice. Based on the judge’s order in March 2017, Pablo and Natalia were given 5 years of imprisonment while the others were given only 3 years. Mental health experts concluded that the prisoners were suffering from a mental condition of shared mystical delirium and that’s why they are non-imputable.
Natalia tried to escape from serving her sentence, but police soon found out her whereabouts and she was put in jail. Pablo Undurraga served two years in prison and was released on parole in 2019, and Natalia Guerra served two years in prison and was released on parole in 2021. The rest of the cult members served their sentences under probation, and they are all undergoing the process of social reintegration.
