Episode 9
This episode opens with a group of people protesting for land compensation. Now, the Hong Hae-In family is in big danger, with all of their accounts frozen by Moh Seul-Hee, who is supposedly the step-grandmother of Hong Hae-In, with Hong Man-Dae, the grandfather, in grave danger and still not waking up. Baek Hyun-Woo takes the family to his hometown because it seems to be the safest place for all of them. There, the family is uncomfortable because there is a huge change in their way of life.
Afterward, we see Hong Soo-Cheol crying over Cheon Da-Hye, reading a letter to which Hong Hae-In sits with him. Hong Soo-Cheol’s son isn’t the son of Cheon Da-Hye. We also see that he has been duped by Yoon Eun-Sung. Following this, we see the strained relationship between Yoon Eun-Sung and Moh Seul-Hee, who are actually mother and son. Additionally, we observe the distance between Hong Hae-In and Baek Hyun-Woo after their divorce, along with a glimpse into their past: they actually knew each other since high school days, and Hong Hae-In comes to know of it through an mp3 player, but it seems Baek Hyun-Woo doesn’t know that the girl was actually Hong Hae-In.
In the end, we see that Hong Man-Dae is missing from his hospital bed and that this has something to do with Yoon Eun-Sung, which scares Moh Seul-Hee as she feels threatened. Yoon Eun-Sung is seen coming to where Hong Hae-In is, while on the other hand, Baek Hyun-Woo is fighting some gang members.
Episode 10
In this episode, Yoon Eun-Sung threatens Hong Hae-In, and he takes Hong Man-Dae to a well-hidden and secure hospital. Then, we witness Hong Beom-Ja threatening Grace Go to expose the truth about her father’s whereabouts. Grace Go has been covertly collaborating with Moh Seul-Hee, deceiving everyone. Meanwhile, back in Baek Hyun-Woo’s hometown, he confides in his mother about Hong Hae-In’s condition, which fills her with guilt.
She takes extra care of Hong Hae-In with love and compassion. On the other hand, Hong Soo-Cheol remains deeply depressed about losing his wife and son. While observing a child playing video games, he is reminded of his wife, who also enjoyed gaming. This prompts him to reach out to her, initially annoying her with the expectation of a rant. Instead, he surprises her with a list of instructions on caring for their son, whom they both know is not his biological child, including reminders about vaccinations and suggesting she sing the “Baby Shark” song to soothe him.
This gesture moves her to tears. Later, we see Hong Hae-In collaborating with Yoon Eun-Sung and ignoring Baek Hyun-Woo, causing him to believe she has moved on emotionally. However, she is actually planning something behind the scenes. Towards the end of the episode, a gathering is held to officially announce news in front of reporters. Here, Yoon Eun-Sung reveals that she is being threatened and has little time left to live. This revelation brings tears to Baek Hyun-Woo’s eyes as he witnesses the dire situation.
‘Queen of Tears’ Plot Forecast
As we anticipate the next moves in the drama, it’s likely that Yoon Eun-Sung will reach a point of either achieving his revenge or experiencing a moment of realization. The whereabouts of Hong Hae-In’s grandfather will probably be uncovered, adding a new layer of complexity to the story. As the truth about Hong Hae-In’s condition becomes known to her family, particularly her mother, we can expect to see an outpouring of love and care, tinged with guilt. The uncertainty lies in whether Hong Hae-In will recover or succumb to her illness, and whether her grandfather will awaken from his current state. This uncertainty sets the stage for what could either be a happy resolution or a heart-wrenching conclusion to the story.
