“Apes hunt humans, that is WRONG!” A new trailer for the much-anticipated film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has arrived. The plot jumps ahead a hundred years after the death of Caesar. A new and powerful ape has emerged, waiting to take over the human race. Directed by Wes Ball, the science-fiction film is set to premiere in theaters on May 10, 2024.
What Is ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ About?
The latest franchise is set almost 300 years after the events of “War for the Planet of the Apes,” as the real Caesar dies and a new ape has taken over the world. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is about a new generation of apes who are now the apex predator, ruled over by a ruthless king whereas the humans have devolved and moved into a feral state. A young ape sets on a harrowing journey to discover about the past of the apes and the humans and to define a future.
Who All Are in the Cast?
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes with a terrific cast. Owen Teague, who plays Noa, a chimpanzee living in a post-apocalyptic world who goes on a journey that makes him question his past. Teague pushed himself extremely hard to fit in the character of Noa. He went to ‘Ape school’ to learn about their behavior.
Freya Allan garnered most attention after bagging the role of Princess Cirilla of Cintra in the Netflix series The Witcher. She plays Mae, a feral woman who befriends Noa on his journey with an aim of her own.
Kevin Durand is another promising actor known for playing ‘Blob’ in X-men Origins: Wolverine. He is also known for playing the video game character Barry Burton in the fifth installment of the Resident Evil movie franchise. He plays the narcissistic villain Proximus Caesar, a chimp leader of a tribe living around the coast seeking human technologies.
Peter Macon plays Raka, a wise orangutan. He is mostly known for his role as Lt. Commander Bortus in the American science fiction comedy-drama The Orville.
William H. Macy’s role is not yet known. However, he is the cast’s most veteran and celebrated actor. He has been a part of the film industry for three decades having worked in Oscar-nominated films like Fargo and The Cooler.

‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ is directed by Wes Ball. The screenplay is written by Patrick Aison, Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa. Joe Hartwick, Jr., Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed, are the producers with Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping as executive producers. A combination of stunning graphics and innovative special effects tends to make the film visually appealing.
Will It Be Released on OTT?
As far as previous installments of the series are concerned including The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes, all are produced by 20th Century Studios owned by the Walt Disney studios, a division of Disney entertainment and are currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Hence, chances are likely that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will also be available to stream on the same platform soon after the release.
What to Expect?
The first chapter of the series, The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was a hit, following the story of Caesar, a chimp on whom a medicine named ALZ-112 is attempted. He grows intelligence and learns more about how people mistreat apes, resulting in an ape uprising.
The second chapter, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, was about the rise of Caesar who becomes the Alpha among all the apes in his colony and has a family of his own. The plot revolves around an encounter between Caesar’s colony and a human group attempting to restart a dam to power their village. The film was praised for its storytelling and stunning visual effects.
The third chapter, War for the Planet of the Apes, picks up where the previous chapter left off, Caesar and his colony are seen locking horns with the human military faction who call themselves Alpha-Omega. The film was praised for its powerful performances, breathtaking graphics and much more.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is anticipated to be twice as entertaining as the prior installments. Apparently, the creators have gone to great lengths to include even more action-packed instances, outstanding visual effects, and phenomenal graphics in the new installment. The characters are also expected to deliver outstanding acting performances, as prior chapters have never failed to impress us. Will it be a box office success? Let’s wait and watch.
