In her early career she gained a lot of recognition for her roles as Sports, Athletics, and Cricket Captain at Pymble, she displayed versatility in various sports including tennis, athletics, touch football, and golf alongside cricket and soccer.

Ellyse Alexandra Perry started her career at the age of 16. In January 2007, she participated in an under-19 interstate tournament and played for New South Wales. She made 74 runs and took 3 wickets in three matches. Playing for the same state, it was during this time when Perry met her future Australian teammate, Alyssa Healy.
In the whole tournament, she proved her talent and immediately earned a place in the Australian youth team for a tour of New Zealand later in the same year.
International Career
- On 22 July 2007, Ellyse Perry made her ODI debut against New Zealand at just 16 years and 8 months. She became the youngest-ever cricketer to represent Australia at a big level. Perry took 2 wickets for 37 runs in her first game.
- After that, she was called up for T20I matches against England in February 2008 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. She displayed a brilliant all-round performance. Perry made 29* (25) balls before taking 4/20 off 4 overs. Her contribution helped Australia win by 21 runs.
- She has set many records and achieved milestones in her cricketing career. Perry recorded the highest score by an Australian woman in Test matches, became the first player to reach 1,000 runs with 100 wickets in T20Is, and was the third player to take 150 wickets in women’s ODIs.
