What’s Happening In The Borders?
The film opens with Detective Sanja appointed as a special investigating officer to solve a murder case that took place right in the bridge of Malaysia and Indonesia border. But as the body was found on the Indonesian side, the case was given to the Indonesian police. The body found does not belong to a single person, but to two different persons. The head belongs to First Sergeant Thoriq Herdian, and the body is suspected to be of a Dayak activist who went missing six weeks ago, Juwing.
What Happened to The Female Human Trafficking Agent?
Detective Sanja, while eating out at a local noodle shop, meets a group of young teenage girls, and she feels suspicious and decides to talk to one of them. When asked if they are visitors, she replies she and other girls are here to work. Some work in the restaurants, some work in the shops, while others walk in the palm plantation. All of them believe that Ambong, their spirit guardian, will protect them no matter what. Sanja wanted to know more from that girl but the woman who was with them took them away. When the agent was taking the girls to an unknown place, their car halted near the water, and she went out to check something.
She comes back screaming, “Help me. There’s someone on the roof.” In an instant, someone or something dragged her out. Only her screaming can be heard. The next day, one of the villagers on a boat finds a human head hanging from a tree with a phone in her mouth and calls the police. Sanja recognizes the woman, and search for the young girls begin. She becomes the fourth victim, the third one being an unidentified man found by Malaysian police some time ago. The fourth victim’s phone leads the police to more questions about the first victim. First Sergeant Thoriq Herdian and about a man named Agam, a local crime lord.
Why Would A Father Sell His Daughter?
The police are searching for Arum and another girl named Sindai. In the meantime, Arum’s father comes to the police, and Sanja’s partner, Thomas, a local police officer, slaps Arum’s father and questions how he can sell his daughter to a human trafficker, and his nonchalant answer is that he needs money to go to Brunei. His crop failed and Arum is mute, and the job he got offered was a scam, so he needed money. And Arum’s father ended up being the fifth victim of the killer. He was killed in the middle of the forest. He was seen to be running and followed by someone while he kept on apologizing for his mistake.
Who Attacked Detective Sanja?
Sanja decides to investigate the abandoned factory in the forest alone and finds empty food packets which have not expired yet. Out of the blue, she is attacked by an unarmed masked man covered in black cloth. Sanja is overpowered by that man and is thrown unconscious in a tank. She is later found out by Thomas and a native, Bujang. Sanja concludes that the killer is not after her, because he was unarmed when he attacked her. On the other hand, Sanja is being transferred and removed from the case because of some of her rash decisions. While she was about to sign her transfer papers, he found out Officer Panca had injured his leg exactly where she hurt her perpetrator. She also found out that Officer Panca and Agam work together as the pen she saw in Panca’s hand was previously seen with Agam.
Who Became The Sixth Victim Of The Killer?
The sixth victim of the killer became a very young girl, Sindai. Sindai is among one of the girls who were victims of human trafficking but successfully escaped with Arum. For days, they have been hiding themselves in the forest. Sindai has been protecting Arum like an elder sister. They found a cave where they could stay and Sindai went on to check it first before Arum could come in. But inside, Arum tripped upon a dead body and saw a human head inside a plastic bag. She got scared and ran out. Later at night, Sindai is found dead in the forest. The search for Arum continues.
Who Is The Killer?
Sanja is knocked unconscious and finds herself again inside the abandoned factory. Thomas is dead and Officer Panca is held captive. Arum is also unconscious. The killer is Bujang. Bujang said that he didn’t kill Thomas, he was just there to clean up. Bujang kept telling different kinds of made-up stories. Bujang ultimately confesses that he has been murdering people to show the world what is the condition of the tribal people and how young children are trafficked. Bujang went on to murder Officer Panca, who became the seventh victim, while Thomas was the sixth victim. Bujang confesses that he respects Thomas and Juwing, but the others deserve to rot for their crimes. Sanja followed Bujang but he escaped in the fog.
