Plot Summary
Axel Foley, a street-smart police lieutenant from Detroit, Michigan, visits Beverly Hills to investigate a case after his daughter’s life is threatened for taking on a murder case and his friend Billy Rosewood goes missing. He and his daughter team up to uncover a conspiracy inside the police force.
Introducing Axel Foley
Axel Foley, a police lieutenant, is always on the run to catch criminals and his way of doing it is rather different. The movie starts with Foley and an incompetent police officer at a hockey game. He didn’t come to watch hockey but to catch robbers red-handed. The chase of the two officers and the group of robbers went long and the city was in chaos and that is known to be classic Foley. His actions sometimes lead him and his partners into problems which his partners work up for his actions.
Why Did Axel Foley Come To Beverly Hills?
Billy Rosewood, Axel’s friend, informs him that his daughter Jane is in trouble. She had taken upon a murder case of Lieutenant Copeland, but she is being scared off by some masked men. Axel decides to go to Beverly Hills the next day to find out about the situation and is supposed to be picked up by Billy from the airport. Suspiciously, the next day Billy never showed up. While working on a drug dealing case as an independent investigator, he is kidnapped. Seeing Billy not picking up his phone, Axel decides to go to his office but, to his surprise, finds some men going through his office. Axel tricked those people and ran away but was caught by the police for stealing a police cart.
Why Is Axel Suspicious Of Grant?
Axel had been suspicious of Grant since their first meeting. He was suspicious that a police officer couldn’t buy expensive watches and clothes. They met again at The Eastern, a private social club, where they followed the men Axel met in Billy’s office. When asked who these men are, Grant casually replies that those men work for him and are helping him to retrieve a piece of evidence that Billy had stolen. Grant kept saying that he deserved more for what he had been doing or had done which made Grant look more questionable because those men are not part of the police force.
Why Was Detective Abbott Suspended?
Axel and Jane are caught in an active shooting incident while working on the case. Detective Abbott, luckily, was present at that time and helped them put an end to the shootout. Back in the police station, they find out that the attackers were once arrested by Rosewood, but charges against them were dropped because of lack of evidence and the supervisor on the case was Grant. But Taggart could not believe Axel’s words because he once trained Grant. He then suspends Detective Abbott for creating a massacre in the city. Once suspended, he decides to work together with Axel and Jane.
Why Were Axel And Abbott Arrested?
The trio goes undercover with the pretense of buying a property. And that property is also beside the house which Billy mentions in his notebook. Axel thought it was important to check the property because Billy wrote it down. Abbott and Jane kept the broker busy while Axel sneaked into the neighboring property and saw drugs everywhere and the car which may have hit Lieutenant Copeland’s car. Axel is pictured on the security camera and Grant is informed. Axel was confirm that Grant and Copeland’s murder were somehow related and went with Abbott to meet Chalino, Sam’s uncle. Sam is the one who is wrongfully accused of Copeland’s murder. But when they were coming back from meeting Chalino, Abbott and Axel were handcuffed by Grant for cocaine possession, but they escaped in a helicopter. Patrol officers informed Taggart of the arrest, which made him believe that the person he trusted, Grant, was the main criminal.
