Amit Sial is an actor known for playing quirky roles. Amit’s role as a journalist ‘Prabhat’ in Dibarkar Banerjee’s film Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD, 2010) opened new avenues for him and landed him more challenging roles in Hindi Bollywood films and Web Series. Lately, Amit’s role as a politician ‘Navin Kumar’ in Huma Qureshi starrer series Maharani received a lot of praise. Also, he was appreciated for playing ‘Peter George’ in Hostages and ‘Devender Mishra’ in Inside Edge Season 1. His role in A Simple Murder and Kathmandu Connection was also applauded by the audience.

Amit Sial was born on July 1, 1975, in Old Kanpur. He did his early education from Sheiling House School, Kanpur and later moved to Delhi for further studies and theatre. He graduated in B.com honors from Delhi College of Arts and Commerce in 1996. Thereafter, he moved to Melbourne, Australia and finished Post Graduation Diploma in International Business from Swinburne University of Technology. However, he didn’t get Masters degree because he couldn’t complete 25,000 words thesis required by the university.

Amit Sial’s parents name is not known but do we know that his father used to run a leather business, mother was a librarian and his younger brother is a Chartered Accountant. In an interview, Amit disclosed that when he was in 8th standard her mother pushed him towards dramatics and extra curricular activities. By the time, Sial reached in college he became more obsessed towards theatre, seeing his extreme inclination towards acting as a career intimidated his parents. However, somewhere in the back of their mind, they also knew that Amit is not a guy who can do good in academics therefore they had no option but to support his dream.

Debut and Career
Amit Sial was fond of acting since childhood. He used to participate in school and college plays. While pursuing graduation in Delhi he joined Barry John theatre and tried his hands on acting, lighting, camera and whatever opportunity he got there.
After finishing bachelors, he went to Melbourne for further studies and joined english theatre. In Melbourne, he met Randeep Hooda and they became friends. After staying in Australia for 5 years, he came back to Delhi and started his Food Venture in partnership with a friend. Meanwhile, Randeep Hooda told him about the opportunity in a film directed by Tanuja Chandra.
Amit went to Mumbai and auditioned for the role. While returning back to his rented flat in Malad, he got a call from Tanuja who told him to lose some weight. Since Amit was new in the industry he didn’t understand why he was told to lose weight, therefore, he called Randeep and asked him the same. Randeep Hooda told him, that he has got the lead role in the film and teased him for being dumb and not getting the hint.
That is how Amit Sial made his debut as ‘Ali Siddiqui’ in English feature film ‘Hope and a little Sugar‘, directed by Tanuja Chandra. The movie was released in 2006 but didn’t do very well at the box office.

However, these films didn’t give Amit that fame and recognition which he received through OTT. In 2017, Amit’s role as Devender Mishra in Inside Edge garnered a lot of appreciation and he became one of the popular choices of production houses when casting for OTT platforms.
In 2018, Amit signed 3 web series such as Damaged, Mirzapur and Smoke. With his talent and subtle acting he proved why directors and producers bet on him. During this era, some other actors who were garnering attention on the web were Rasika Duggal, Gulshan Deviah, Tisca Chopra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajesh Telang, Kirti Kulhari, Amit Sadh, Radhika Apte, Aahna Kumra, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shweta Tripathi, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Vineet Kumar Singh and several other actors from theatre and non-theatre background.
Since 2019, he appeared in web series such as Jamtara Sabka Number Ayega, Ranbaaz Phirse and Hostages, which proved his mettle on the web. By now, Amit Sial has become the popular choice of producers for the lead role, therefore, he started getting calls for narration of the upcoming series.
Sial, who already had an Insatiable appetite for challenging roles signed 3 web series in a lead role for Sony Liv platform. These web series are The Simple Murder (2020), Kathmandu Connection (2021) and Maharani (2021). Among these three, Maharani became a huge hit and watched over a million times.
