Who is Chittaranjan Tripathy?
Chittaranjan Tripathy is an Indian actor, writer, director and a music director born in Odisha. He is best known for playing Binayak Mohanty in M.O.M:Mission Over Mars (2019) and Jitender (a Pharmacist) in Jholachhap (2022). In both the web series Chittaranjan played the negative characters so naturally that it looked so real and authentic on the screen. Especially in Jholachhap, he was so into the character that people started hating his character. His most recent movie is Bhakshak (2024) which is releasing on 9th February 2024 on the Netflix Ott app.
Chittaranjan is also known for portraying the role of a villain ‘Trivedi’ in Anurag Kashyap’s directional series Sacred Games (2018-19). The series was a big hit and got hugely popular among young viewers in India. Tripathy’s role in the series was very much appreciated along with Nawazuddin, Pankaj Tripathi, Girish Kulkarni, Radhika Apte and others.

Prior to Hindi cinema, Chittaranjan directed, written and produced Odia film ‘Dhauli Express‘, the film received three Odisha State Film Awards. Apart from that, he produced a Movie titled ‘Mukhyamantri‘ (2009) and plays such as ‘Taj Mahal ka Tender‘ which garnered appreciation and popularity among theatre lovers in Delhi.

Chittaranjan Tripathy started his career from theatre, and has been a part of plays such as Ladi Nazaria, he performed in Bhubaneswar.
In 2007, Chitta made his directional debut in Oria Film Industry from movie called ‘Dhauli Express‘. Which received several awards. Apart from producing and directing, Chitta was also the writer, lyricist, playback singer and music director of the film.

Same year he appeared in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Mukkabaaz‘ where Vineet Kumar Singh was in the lead role of a struggling boxer, while Chittaranjan played the supporting actor. Following year Tripathy directed and acted in film titled ‘Pramod Gupta J.E‘ which was presented at several film festivals and later released in cinema halls and multiplexes.
In 2018, he got the chance to work with Anurag once again in Netflix’s most popular series ‘Sacred Games‘, where he played the negative character of ‘Trivedi’, a villain from the Gaitonde’s gang. Which is also one of the most memorable roles he ever played on screen.
Following the success of Sacred Games, he joined the cast of ‘M.O.M – Mission Over Mars‘, helmed by Ekta Kapoor. In M.O.M Chitta portrayed the negative character of Binayak Mohanty, the web series was streamed on Zee5 and Alt Balaji OTT platform.
In 2020 – 21, he became a part of Mx Player original series ‘Raktanchal‘ and ‘Runaway Lugai‘. While his latest releases are Abhishek Bachchan starrer film ‘Dasvi‘, and Voot original series ‘Jholachhap‘.
In Jholachhap, Chittaranjan played the character called ‘Jitender’ who runs a Pharmacy shop in village, and often fools people by giving them expired medicines or ill advices. Later his Pharmacy cum Doctory business was challenged, when a new lady doctor (Played by Mahak Manwani) arrives in a govt. hospital that offered a better treatment at low to no cost. Therefore he joined hands with other Jholachhap doctors and conspired against the lady doctor to throw her out of the village.
