The 2024 remake of “Road House” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor, is an action-packed drama film trending on Prime Video right now. Directed by Doug Liman, the remake keeps the essence of the 80s classic “Road House” intact: a tough bouncer tackling corruption in a town. However, it adds a contemporary touch with pumping action sequences.
Plot Summary: Dalton is an ex-UFC fighter who is going through a tough time. He gets hired by Frankie in the Road House, a bar in the Florida Keys, as a bouncer following a near-death experience. There, he befriends a bookstore owner named Stephen and his daughter Charlie. Things take a turn when Ben Brandt (Billy Magnussen), the local underworld boss, threatens this establishment.
In no time, Dalton finds out that the violence goes beyond the unruly customers. Brandt’s thugs are involved in the drug racket and want to demolish the bar to build a resort in the area. With a new sense of purpose, Dalton cleans up the bar to fight Brandt’s organization. Additionally, he takes a liking to Dr. Ellie (Daniela Melchior), who begins to question Dalton’s violent past.
As the hostilities escalate when Brandt hurts Stephen and Charlie and kidnaps Ellie, Dalton goes on a rampage, leading to their final confrontation at The Road House.

1. Fight Scene with Dell and His Gang (15:43–19:21)
This scene starts with Dell and his gang coming into the bar with an usual aggressive attitude, harassing customers, and breaking property. Dalton, with his chill guy attitude and wit, deals with Dell by asking him if the bikes outside were theirs. With that, he walks out with Dell and his associates following behind, fearing he’d do something to their bikes. Once outside, he takes them all down with a series of slaps and kicks.
2. Dalton Teaches Billy How to Fight (35:08–37:08)
This is an interesting scene where Dalton teaches Billy, a young bartender at the bar, to deal with a drunk guy’s brawl. Dalton advises him to take a step back and hit when the drunk guy tries to punch him.

3. Dalton is Attacked (45:19–46:17)
In this suspenseful scene, we see Dalton on his way home after finishing work. He walks on the bridge when, suddenly, he looks back and sees a truck. The truck speeds up, and he realizes that it will hit him and quickly runs. He narrowly escapes, but before he can properly stand up, the truck reverses and hits him again; this time the truck itself is suspended on the ledge. The people inside the truck get out, and Dalton falls underwater. The truck falls down a few moments later. Dalton manages to swim up unscathed.

Dalson goes back to The Boat (where he stays) and finds Dell waiting for him with a gun. Dalton tries to talk to him as a distraction. He succeeds and attacks Dell. In a scuffle, Dell falls from his window and into the water. Dell tries to get back up, and Dalton tries to help, not intending to kill him. However, the crocodile gets him and Dell vanishes into the water.
5. Knox Enters the Road House (1:13:16–1:19:08)
Knox is a burly and sociopathic man hired by Ben Brandt’s incarcerated father, Gerald Brandt, to take down the Road House. On a fine evening, Knox comes into the bar with Ben’s men. He smashes things around and disturbs the customers; everyone gets alerted. He smashes the net, separating the singers and hurting Billy and others. When it’s evident that he’s too strong for most people, chaos ensues in the bar. Dalton walks in and fights with Knox. In a series of hits from both of them, ultimately, Dalton is beaten and defeated by Knox.
6. Dalton is Enraged (1:22:38–1:29:31)

After finding out that Brandt’s men have attacked Stephen and his daughter, Dalton is enraged. He goes to the den of Brandt’s men and viciously kills the thug who was responsible for it. He keeps the thug’s body in a cooler. In the morning, he comes across a deputy sheriff with a briefcase full of money on his way to give it to Brandt. Dalton injures the sheriff, takes his gun, and shoots the thug’s dead body to pin the murder on him. Then, he wacks the sheriff to give him a concussion and walks away with the briefcase.
7. Ellie is Kidnapped (1:30:07–1:36:33)
The sheriff comes to Dalton, informing him that Brandt has kidnapped Ellie and asking for his help. After some persuasion, Dalton agrees to meet Brandt. He arrives at Brandt’s boat and sees Brandt and the Sheriff together. The sheriff tells him that Ellie is not kidnapped; it was said to lure him out. Right then, Brandt confesses that he did indeed kidnap Ellie. In the middle of the confusion, Dalton detonates the bomb he put inside his boat, and a big explosion occurs.
8. Dalton saves Ellie and Knox Attacks (1:36:36-1:40:45)
Everything goes silent. Dalton goes to the boat and sees a man burning. Brandt’s boat starts sinking, and Dalton quickly starts calling out for Ellie. Ellie is seen trying to break the glass when one of Brandt’s men shoots and breaks the glass, submerging the lower floor. They both come up, but Dalton is again attacked by Knox in a speedboat. Ellie gets in a speedboat but is taken over by Brandt, where he declares to destroy the Road House himself. Dalton attaches himself to Knox’s boat, and a wild fight ensues. Dalton manages to throw Knox off and chase after Brandt, which ends up with the boat crashing on the Road House.
9. Dalton Fights Brandt (1:40:54–1:45:31)
Knox emerges on land, and Brandt lies injured in the bar. Dalton enters the bar and is attacked by Brandt, however manages to take him down. Knox crashes a car and injures Dalton, and an intense fist fight ensues. Both show their fighting prowess in this scene.
10. Dalton Kills Brandt and Knox (1:45:34–1:48:00)
Continuing from the last scene, we see Dalton and Knox engaged in their powerful fight. Knox manages to get a hold of a sharp object, tries to stab Dalton, and manages to stab his stomach. We see Knox ready to kill him when, from the side, Brandt tells Knox to finish him off. Annoyed by his voice, Knox breaks Brandt’s neck. By then, the injured Dalton tries to stop Knox from stabbing him in a sheer show of strength. He takes a sharp object still attached to his wound, takes it out, and stabs Knox everywhere. Thus, Knox bleeds out and dies.
Road House Ending Explained
After being badly injured by Knox, Dalton is defeated and decides to leave his job and go back. On his way out, he sees Charlie’s burned-down bookstore, which angers him because he was friends with Charlie. Seeking revenge, Dalton kills Brandt’s helper, Vince, and steals Brandt’s money. Brandt kidnaps Dalton’s girlfriend, Ellie, as informed by her corrupt sheriff’s father. Dalton agrees to help but refuses to give back the stolen money. He confronts Brandt on a boat, leading to a big fight and an explosion. Dalton saves Ellie, fights Brandt and Knox, and ultimately defeats them. The sheriff tells Dalton to leave town. Meanwhile, Charlie and her dad try to fix the bookstore. Dalton leaves the stolen money for them before leaving town. In a post-credits scene, Knox is shown alive in the hospital, hinting at a possible sequel.
